Matt Nichols serves as Mayor of Oakland Libby Schaaf’s Policy Director for Infrastructure & Transportation.  For two decades, Mr. Nichols has been a leader in sustainable transportation policies and projects implementation in the Bay Area. He was the Principal Transportation Planner for the City of Berkeley for 13 years, and worked for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s Transportation Fund for Clean Air, the U.S. Cities for Climate Protection Campaign.  Matt has managed universal transit pass programs, He has served on the Boards of Urban Ecology and City CarShare and is a member of TransForm, Bike East Bay, and SPUR.  Matt does not own a car, and lives with his family at the intersection of two Bicycle Boulevards, four AC Transit lines and a BART Station.
